Operation Clean Sweep (OCS)

TÜV UK Ltd are cooperating with TÜV NORD Italia to establish a new sustainability certification standard in the UK.

TÜV NORD Italia is a Certification Body authorised by Plastics Europe to issue OCS certificates for the reduction of plastic pollution.

The aim of the Operation Clean Sweep scheme is to control and document the compliance of companies in the plastics supply chain with regard to the prevention of the dispersion of plastic pellets and granules into the environment.

This certification scheme, which applies to any company involved in the production, transport, storage and processing of plastics raw materials, recognises that certified companies are voluntarily committed to reducing environmental pollution, constituting an important factor in demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and a Green modus operandi.

The OCS (Operation Clean Sweep) Certification process:

• Request for Quotation (via Questionnaire)
• Contract between the company and the Certification Body
• Submission to the Certification Body of the documentation required to start the certification process
• Assessment of documentation (phase 1)
• On-site audit (phase 2)
• Audit report
• Issue of certificate valid for three years (if audit successfully passed)
• Publication of certification data on the OCS portal
• Annual surveillance audit (documental) during the three years of validity of the certificate.

The company may request a pre-audit. The purpose of the pre-audit is to assess the improvements that the company needs in order to face the certification audit.
